Financial Information Budget and Precept

The Precept is that element of your Council Tax that is paid to Kettering Town Council.

Every year, the Town Council draws up budgets and calculates how much money it needs for the next Financial Year. Look out for reports to the Councils' finance committee and full Council during October-February each year to see how the budget for the next year is progressing.

The Council in 2021/22 raised £134,000 in precept. This meant that someone in a Band D house paid £8.21 for the year towards the Town Council. Every £1000 the Council spends costs each average household 6p per year.

Kettering's precept was the lowest of any parish or town council in North Northamptonshire in 21/22

The precept for 2022/23 was agreed by Council on 19th January 2022 and is for £325,000. Thus means that a band D household will pay £19.56 a year - or 35p a week. This still means the Town Council has one of the lowest parish precepts in North Northamptonshire .

The budget for the Town Council for 2022/23 is below.

Budget Consultation 2023/24

We have consulted on our proposed budget for next year, on the proposed precept and on the corporate plan that guides the budget.

We asked for feedback on our ideas by Tuesday 6 December 2022, ahead of making a final decision at the Full Council meeting on Wednesday 18 January 2023.

Here are the responses from our consultation.
