Music in the air in park this summer

Kettering's historic bandstand will be brought to life this year with a programme of afternoon music.

The popular Bands in the Park will see a live band performing on Sundays throughout the summer – and are free for everyone to enjoy.

Music will be at the Rockingham Road Pleasure Park bandstand every week from 22 June to 24 August.

Park users can enjoy a wide range of music, all performers are local to the Kettering area, with the traditional brass and silver bands as well as funk, jazz, saxophones and more, from 2pm to 4pm each Sunday.

Emma Dezelu, Deputy Clerk at Kettering Town Council, said: "We know people love heading to the park on a Sunday afternoon to enjoy the music. We have a great mix this year of traditional brass bands and some more contemporary music. The season kicks off with Kettering Town Silver Band.

"All Saints' Church will be selling refreshments – ice cream, strawberries and teas and coffee – and if the weather is really bad the show still goes on, but inside the church.

"We hope there's something for everyone to enjoy – they're free, so just head on over with a picnic and join in."
