New device to stop speeding in town

Speed Warning Device on Pytchely Road with Cllrs Eve Edwards, Maggie Don and Scott Edwards

A new speeding device has been installed in Kettering to warn drives who are going too fast.

The sign has been put up on Pytchley Road to help calm traffic in the area.

Kettering Town Council has installed the device, which cost £4,000 and runs on solar power.

The device replaces a camera which used to be on the road before parking bays were added.

Cllr Mark Rowley, Chair of Finance and Governance Committee, said: "We are really pleased to be able to fund this device and help slow traffic in the area.

"Pytchley Road is the only place in Kettering without some sort of traffic warning device, so it was crying out for something. We hope that this will make a big difference to road safety in this area of the town."

Cllr Maggie Don, whose ward covers the Pytchley Road area, said: "This spot is notorious for drivers going too fast, so I am really pleased that the town council has been able to install it in this spot.

"Residents of Pythchely Road and the Venture Park estate have been suffering from cars racing along this stretch of road to the Tesco car park so I am hoping this will help to calm this activity."
