Young people are focus for town meeting

A public meeting to discuss young people in Kettering is being held next month.

The event is being organised by Kettering Town Council to bring local groups and people together to discuss youth activities and projects.

It will be a chance to hear what is already happening with youth engagement and activities as well as discuss ideas for future projects and initiatives, including leisure and sport, arts, clubs and activities and more.

The meeting, on Wednesday 21 February, will hear presentations from the following groups about their work in Kettering:

Big Bubble Theatre Company
Becky Hurrell Voice Academy
Kettering Sea and Royal Marines Cadets
Northamptonshire Sport
St Andrew's Arts Centre
Northamptonshire Police's Youth Violence Intervention Unit

Cllr Emily Fedorowycz, who as Mayor of Kettering is chair of the town meetings, said: "The theme of young people and leisure activities was suggested at a previous town meeting and we are really pleased to be able to hear from local groups and people on this topic. We need to come together to discuss what facilities and activities we need in our town, and young people especially have said that they want to have more fun things to do.

"This open forum is a great chance for us to hear more about good things already going on in the area and collaborate on ideas for what we can do to improve things for young people in Kettering. The event is open to everyone, so please come along and get involved in the conversation."
