Markets in Kettering

Summer Saturdays

We are running a series of community festival events on Saturdays from April to July.

The Summer Saturday events will be a mixture of food and drink stalls, crafts and local business stands, live music and entertainment and games.

The day-long festivals will be taking over the Market Place, and attract hundreds of people into the town centre.

We are now open to bookings from traders and are looking for a range of different stalls, but will prioritise requests from local, small businesses.

The cost for a pitch at the Summer Saturday events is £20 - this includes a gazebo and table, provided by the council. Stallholders will need to hold up to date public liability insurance, food traders will have to produce up to date food hygiene certification, including a four or five-star rating. Full rules on having a market stall are at the bottom of this page.

Summer Saturdays will be held on:
Saturday 29 April
Saturday 27 May
Saturday 24 June
Saturday 22 July

The event will run from 11am to 4pm and traders must arrive to set up by 10am. The location is Kettering Market Place NN16 0AJ or What 3 Words locator https://w3w.co/panels.tunnel.payer.

Midsummer Market

The Midsummer Market is being held to support local charities, community groups and voluntary organisations on Wednesday 21 June 2023.

Local groups can have a stall in the Market Square free of charge to help them reach out to people in the town about the good work they are doing.

As well as the stalls there will be traditional music and entertainment to celebrate the summer solstice.

Stallholders can either apply for a full stall or can share stalls with groups - the stall is 3x3m and includes 2 tables.

The event will run from 5pm to 9pm and traders must arrive to set up by 4pm. The location is Kettering Market Place NN16 0AJ or What 3 Words locator https://w3w.co/panels.tunnel.payer.

Weekly markets

Kettering's Market Charter dates back to the 13th century and allows the Town Council the exclusive right to run markets in Kettering within six miles of the town centre.

Currently there are three markets a week:
Wednesdays 8am to 2pm in Gold St
Fridays and Saturdays 8am to 4pm in High St and Gold St

Regular traders will be joined by occasional traders from time to time. The Wednesday market has historically been more of a collectors market, but is now open to all traders.

Charges for market stalls and pitches.
£12 for a stall provided by the Council
£8 for a pitch only, where you supply your own rig or vehicle
£20 for speciality markets

New traders will be able to book a pitch, or pitch and stall, for free on two occasions if they wish to test out if the market is for them, and any casual trader may have two free bookings a year. This offer does not extend to speciality markets or event markets that the council organizes or sponsors, nor to farmers markets.

How to become a market trader

How has COVID-19 changed the market stall landscape? Market stalls have not been immune to the impact of national or local lockdowns. Get support from the Startups website in expanding your business or starting a new one.
