Weekly town markets

Kettering's Market Charter dates back to the thirteenth century and has now been vested with the Town Council. The Charter allows the Town Council to run markets in Kettering and gives it the exclusive right to do within 6 miles of the Town Centre.

Currently there are three markets a week
- on a Wednesday from 8am to 2pm in Gold St
- on Fridays and Saturdays from 8am to 4pm in High St and Gold St

Regular traders will be joined by occasional traders from time to time. The Wednesday market has historically been more of a collectors market, but is now open to all traders.

The Council also runs speciality markets from time to time - details on our Christmas 2022 markets are above - and these usually happen on the Market Place.

If you wish to book a market stall, please use this form.

Charges for market stalls and pitches.

  • £12 for a stall provided by the Council
  • £8 for a pitch only, where you supply your own rig or vehicle
  • £20 for speciality markets

New traders will be able to book a pitch, or pitch and stall, for free on two occasions if they wish to test out if the market is for them, and any casual trader may have two free bookings a year. This offer does not extend to speciality markets or event markets that the Council organizes or sponsors, nor to Farmers Markets.

The rules and regulations for traders on the market are set out below.

How to become a market trader

How has COVID-19 changed the market stall landscape? Market stalls have not been immune to the impact of national or local lockdowns. Get support from the Startups website in expanding your business or starting a new one.
