Local bands sought for town gigs

Talented local musicians are being sought for a series of concerts in Kettering this summer.

The popular Bands In The Park series runs from June to the end of August, in the historic Rockingham Road bandstand.

Now, Kettering Town Council is looking for local bands, groups, choirs and musicians to perform for the Sunday afternoon slots.

As well as featuring traditional brass bands, organisers are keen to hear from a range of different groups and genres.

In addition to the bandstand performances, there will be two Bands in the Town days – on Saturdays 11 and 18 May, where bands play in the Market Place, bringing music into the town centre.

Kettering Town Councillor Craig Skinner, Chair of the Markets and Events Committee, said: "These concerts are so popular, it's a real pleasure to be able to put them on throughout the summer. We want to give as many local bands a chance to play – so please get in touch if you've got what it takes."

The programme in the park starts on Sunday 23 June with 10 events, ending on Sunday 25 August. The events are support by All Saints Church which provides tea, coffee, strawberries and ice cream – and an inside option if the weather is too bad to play.
